ANNOUNCER:
HEART DISEASE IS THE LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH FOR WOMEN. AND THE RATE AT WHICH WOMEN IN GEORGIA DIE FROM HEART DISEASE IS NINE PERCENT HIGHER THAN THE NATIONAL AVERAGE.
BUT A NEW PROGRAM COMING TO THE STATE COULD CURB THAT TREND.
LISA TATE IS CEO OF WOMENHEART, THE NATIONAL COALITION FOR WOMEN WITH HEART DISEASE.

“We’re seeking Georgia women who have heart disease who want to learn how to education other women about heart disease and how to prevent it. This free educational conference, made possible by the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia Foundation, will provide women with the training they will need to be effective community educators and I encourage all women heart disease survivors in Georgia to apply today for this exciting and free program at Womenheart.org.”

TATE SAYS THE PROGRAM WILL TRAIN 40 GEORGIA WOMEN TO BECOME VOLUNTEER WOMENHEART CHAMPIONS WHO WILL RETURN TO THEIR COMMUNITIES TO EDUCATE WOMEN ABOUT HEART HEALTH AND LEAD PATIENT SUPPORT NETWORKS.
THE WOMENHEART SCIENCE AND LEADERSHIP SYMPOSIUM WILL TAKE PLACE IN ATLANTA FEBRUARY 17 THROUGH 20.
