Sunkist Spotlights the Juicy Details of Citrus with Three-Part Web Series and Consumer Sweepstakes

SHERMAN OAKS, CA – April 12, 2011 – Sunkist Growers is creatively “peeling back” layers about citrus favorites through a three-part, original web series and consumer sweepstakes.  World class chef Robert Danhi, and fourth generation Sunkist grower Mark Gillette give audiences a rare, behind-the-scenes tour of a working Central California grove, showcasing why oranges, grapefruit and lemons pack a nutritious and delicious punch. The educational series premieres worldwide in April with a sweepstakes offering viewers a chance to win sweet cash prizes.

Each episode includes fun facts about citrus and information about how the fruit is grown and how to identify different varieties. Trivia questions based on the webisodes will periodically appear on the Sunkist website now through June 2011, offering fans who answer questions correctly the chance to win $1,000. Visit www.sunkist.com/citrusgrove for complete rules.

“Citrus is bursting with health benefits that many overlook,” said Chef Robert Danhi, known best for traveling the world to find the freshest ingredients and the best ways to use them. “These videos are a great way to learn more about oranges, grapefruit and lemons and pick up some tips from experts.”

Each webisode slices into a particular type of fruit and offers tips and tricks viewers can use at home. Refreshing Navel, Cara Cara and Moro oranges headline the first video being released today, April 12. The series will expand on May 2 spotlighting an episode on tangy grapefruits and then a new release on May 23 will feature the versatility of lemons and their flavor enhancing attributes that enable them to serve as a salt substitute.

“As growers, we have been working in partnership with Mother Nature for multiple generations,” said Gina Widjaja, Advertising & PR Manager for Sunkist Growers. “This video series highlights how the Sunkist commitment to quality ensures families are getting the best fruit possible year-round.”
