GIRL TALK: Women Don’t Know
Simple Facts About Their Own Bodies

Women’s Health Expert, Dr. Carla Stokes, and Founder of “i am that girl” and Survivor Finalist, Alexis Jones, Team Up to Ignite Conversation and Stamp-Out Embarrassment

Whether you call it a “hoo-hoo” or “down there,” odds are you never call it by its real name and you probably don’t know what parts make it up.  According to a recent nationwide listening tour conducted by Summer’s Eve to gain insight into women’s understanding of the role hygiene plays in their lives, both practically and emotionally, American women reveal themselves to be “in the dark” when it comes to specific information about their “nether regions.”  In fact, seventy percent of women can’t even identify the five major parts of their “female parts.”

The lack of women’s knowledge of their bodies and avoidance of frank conversations is cause for concern.  If women aren’t educated on their anatomy and are embarrassed to talk about it, they cannot effectively advocate for their own health.

Dr. Carla Stokes, Ph.D., a women’s health expert along with Alexis Jones, who founded “i am that girl,”  participated in the launch of  “ID the V”, a viral quiz that will strive to engage, educate and empower women to better understand and nurture their bodies. Guided by a set of anatomically correct graphics, the quiz will aim to test and teach one million women to identify the five major parts of their female genitalia. By taking the quiz, women around the country will have an opportunity to see how much they know about their bodies, and learn what feminine hygiene really means.

In addition, to further promote/support the campaign, Summer’s Eve will donate $1 to “i am that girl”, a nonprofit organization serving young women, upwards of $25,000, for every correct quiz that is submitted.
