American Heart Association: The Better Fats Sisters “Dinner”
October 18, 2011- The American Heart Association’s national education campaign, Face The Fats, is aimed at helping consumers understand the different types of dietary fats and make heart-healthy choices. Among the campaign’s top priorities is to encourage replacement of trans and saturated fat with oils that are better for you — monounsaturated and polyunsaturated.
To help people understand fats, the American Heart Association introduced two animated characters known as the Better Fats Sisters, Mon – short for Monounsaturated and Poly – short for Polyunsaturated. The Sisters help consumers find comprehensive information about fats so that they can eat healthier in restaurants and use the better fats when preparing meals at home.
We want your listeners to be successful in their pursuit of a heart-healthy eating pattern – so help us encourage them to develop a game plan that’s reasonable and has attainable goals. Going from “bad” to “better” can be done – it just takes one smart choice after another.
