ANNOUNCER:
ACCORDING TO A RECENT SURVEY BY HARRIS INTERACTIVE, CONSUMERS THINK IT’S IMPORTANT TO MONITOR THEIR TEMPERATURE WHEN THEY’RE SICK, BUT MOST DON’T KNOW WHAT TYPE OF THERMOMETER IS THE MOST ACCURATE.
MARY PAPPAS, THE NEW YORK SCHOOL NURSE WHO ALERTED OFFICIALS ABOUT THE SWINE FLU OUTBREAK, IS HERE TO REPORT ON THE FINDINGS.
MARY PAPPAS:
“This time of year, I take hundreds of temperatures and need to know those readings are accurate. More than 90 percent of Americans agree that accuracy is important, but less than 10 percent know what type of thermometer is the most reliable. I use the Exergen TemporalScanner because, other than a rectal thermometer, the scanner is proven to be the most accurate, plus it’s quick and easy to use. All you do is swipe the scanner across the forehead. So, if you get the flu, be sure to monitor your temperature often, because a high or prolonged fever can be a sign to call your doctor.”
