Darth Vader & The Little Mermaid Star in Two New Attractions at The Disneyland Resort
Guests are also treated to a new parade this summer!
ANAHEIM, CA, June 2, 2011 – From under the sea to a galaxy far, far away to a brand new parade down Main Street, U.S.A., the Disneyland Resort in Southern California is giving guests a passport to a Soundsational Summer!
The fun begins at Disney California Adventure. On Thursday, June 2nd, a ceremony officially kicked off the opening of “The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure.” Special guests included the voice of “Ariel,” Jodi Benson and the voice of “Ursula,” Pat Carroll. Disney fans have been waiting for a “Little Mermaid” themed attraction since the movie premiered in 1989. A musical retelling of the movie, guests travel in pastel-colored “clam shells” and become part of Ariel’s world in this classic Disney “dark ride.”
Over at Disneyland, a flash mob surprised guests as they opened for a special viewing of “Mickey’s Soundsational Parade.” The new parade brings a new beat to the streets of Disneyland as band leader Mickey Mouse leads a syncopated drum line, nine whimsical floats, and an array of musicians down Main Street, U.S.A.
On Friday, June 3rd, a special ceremony kicked off the official opening of “Star Tours—The Adventures Continue,” an all-new 3-D adventure into the Star Wars galaxy. Based on the Star Wars™ films, Star Tours now transports guests to multiple Star Wars destinations where they will interact with some new characters from throughout the Saga.
