Design, Tech Pros Spill Top 10 Secrets to a Successful Move

New Product Journalist David Gregg and Expert Design Commentator Libby Langdon Share Stress-busting, Time-saving and Techorating Tips to Smooth your Summer Move

Nearly 40 million Americans move every year AND nearly half of those relocations occur between Memorial Day and Labor Day.  With so many people on the move, and so many things to remember, it’s no wonder moving is viewed as a major league stress. But it doesn’t have to be that way if you know the secrets to a successful move.

It’s important to have a plan of action. Planning ahead and being organized will save you from feeling lost in your new home without any of your creature comforts to put you at ease.  You’ll move to your new home knowing you’ll have access to your daily necessities,  key communication and entertainment devices, as well as knowing you’ve saved money and time.

To ensure the move goes off without hitch, New Product Journalist David Gregg and Design Expert Libby Langdon have some quick and easy tips.

  • One thing you can check off your to do list in advance is to ensure you have your phone, internet and television up and running as soon as possible. David suggests CableMover.com which allows you to disconnect your old service and connect your TV, phone and internet with just a quick online visit so you have everything upon moving into your new home.
  • When it comes to unpacking, Libby says it's smart to have the movers load the moving truck so that larger items like dressers and storage pieces are unloaded first. That way you can start putting items in them right away and get one step closer to feeling like your new house is your home.
  • Both David and Libby say it’s important to remember to leave everyday items (i.e. coffeemaker, children’s favorite toys, remote controls, blankets and pillows, etc…) aside for that last load box. This will make your first day and night in your new home easier and more comfortable.
