Putting an Addition onto Your Home
Perfect Projects for Fall that Won’t Cost a Bundle and Add Value to Your Home

One of the absolute best ways to increase the value and livability of your home is to add living space. And so while you might think you have to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on a new addition all you really have to do is reinvent and improve some space you already have. And you can do it for much less than you think. Fall is the perfect time to take a good look at spaces such as basements and garages to increase the comfort and usability of your home and property. And, this year it’s even more important, as homeowners try to satisfy their needs by improving, instead of moving.
Tom Kraeutler, home improvement expert and co-host of radio’s The Money Pit, says that organizing your garage, redoing the basement, or creating more storage on your property doesn’t mean you have to have a boatload of extra money and a contractor on hand.
Tom will talk about:
Basements: Cleaning, sprucing, and painting, taking into account the unique conditions in a basement. Adding fixtures to make the space livable.
Garages: Getting organized, maximizing space, without having to leave your car out in the cold
Outdoor sheds: Great solutions for when you run out of indoor space. Easy-to-assemble, useful all year round.
Tom is co-host the nationally syndicated home improvement radio program The Money Pit. He is also AOL’s Home Improvement Editor and earned his home improvement stripes as a professional home inspector, amassing over 20 years experience learning how houses are put together, and how they fall apart!
