‘Go To Bat’ for Their Favorite Charity

July 18, 2011- A home run is always cause for celebration.  But with the help of actress and recording artist Mandy Moore, fans will have the opportunity to knock one out of the park to support their favorite charity. 

At the Home Run Derby on July 11, 2011, Moore is joining with State Farm to kick off this year’s Go To Bat campaign.  For every home run hit at the Derby, State Farm will make a donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.  And fans can get in on the action online by choosing their favorite charity and going to bat for one of 10 weekly donations from State Farm. 

To play, people go online to www.statefarm.com/gotobat and choose their favorite charity from a list of over 50 charities determined by both State Farm and Major League Baseball. For each virtual home run hit in the online Go To Bat game, fans help increase their favorite charity’s batting average and chance to win.

Once a week, for 10 weeks, State Farm will select the charity with the highest Go To Bat game batting average and make a donation of $18,000 to help them Get to a Better State. Also, an individual winner who went to bat for the winning charity will be randomly selected and will receive a trip for two to the 2011 World Series.

Mandy Moore is “going to bat” for PSI's Five & Alive Organization which provides children and their families with the education, products, services and care needed to improve health and save lives in more than 65 countries.  Moore will be available for interviews on July 11, 2011 to talk about getting involved, what your viewers can do, and what it’s like to be on the ground at the MLB Home Run Derby 2011.

About the Talent: Mandy Moore is an actress and recording artist. She gained fame as a teen with the release of her popular pop albums So Real, I Wanna Be with You, and Mandy Moore. Her most recent album, Amanda Leigh, was released on May 26, 2009.  Recent film credits include "License to Wed" opposite Robin Williams and John Krasinski; Justin Theroux's "Dedication" opposite Billy Crudup and "Because I Said So" opposite Diane Keaton. Moore provided the voice of Rapunzel in Tangled. Her song, “I See the Light,” earned the writers an Oscar nomination for Music (Original Song) and a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Original Song (Motion Picture).
