PHILIP STITTLEBURG, CHAIRMAN OF THE NATIONAL VOLUNTEER FIRE COUNCIL SAYS THIS IS ALSO A GREAT TIME FOR FAMILIES TO BE REMINDED OF THE CRUCIAL ROLE VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS HAVE IN OUR COMMUNITIES.

“Of the more than one million active firefighters in the U.S, approximately 73 percent serve on a volunteer basis. More than half invest their own money in supplies and equipment for their department, up to 500 dollar annually”.
