5 Secrets To Success For Women Business Owners

October 5, 2010 – In the US today, more than 8 million businesses are owned by women.  That's 28.2 percent of all firms in the country. While women-owned businesses are responsible for 23 million jobs and a significant amount of revenue (almost equal to the entire GDP of Germany), these businesses account for only about four percent of all revenues generated in the U.S, according to the Center for Women's Business Research, National Women's Business Council and Women Impacting Public Policy.

Susan Wilson Solovic, a small business expert and author, says women face challenges associated with access to capital, access to markets, and access to technology that may hinder the growth of their businesses. So how can women be an even more powerful force in the American economy?

Solovic offers the five best things women business owners can do to propel themselves to the next level:

  • Mentality – the importance of thinking big
  • Philosophy – the difference between creating a job and building a business
  • Logistics – the essential advantages of embracing technology – it can make your business appear larger, help you run more efficiently
  • (Wo)manpower – the key to picking the right team – hint: don’t just turn to friends and family
  • ·Making sure the price is right – tricks to avoid undervaluing yourself since stats show women don't charge enough for products and services

Susan Wilson Solovic is a small business expert, award- winning entrepreneur and small business journalist, best-selling author, media personality, and attorney.
