The Talk
September 14, 2010 - On September 16, families around the country are encouraged to sit down and talk about money and financial responsibility as part of “The National Money Night Talk” program, presented by American Express and personal finance expert Jean Chatzky.
According to a recent American Express survey, nearly nine in ten parents (88%) are already discussing financial responsibility with their kids, yet six in ten parents (62%) say they are looking for ways to teach their kids about the importance of moneybefore they overspend.
To help guide these conversations, parents can visit www.Moneynighttalk.com to make a pledge to have “the talk” with their kids and access exclusive content from Jean Chatzky like how-to videos, frequently asked questions and talk points, which have been endorsed by the council for economic education.
This free online resource is available to parents with kids in three ages groups: middle school, high school and college, and cover important financial topics like living within a budget, saving and the value of money.
