Data shows that more women die of heart disease than all forms of cancer combined. Go Red For Women is the American Heart Association’s national movement, created by women, for women, dedicated to uncovering the truth about women and heart disease: heart disease can kill you or a woman you love.

A staggering one in three American women suffers from heart disease, yet only one in six American women believes that heart disease is her greatest health threat. This disconnect can leave many women unmotivated to act and even to treat heart disease. The Go Red For Women movement gives women a fighting chance against heart disease by helping them understand their No.1  killer, uncover the truth and be the difference between life and death.

This year, Emmy-nominated actress Elizabeth Banks directs and stars in the first-ever Go Red For Women short film and PSA called “Just a Little Heart Attack.”  Inspired by the real-life stories of women who have been affected by heart disease, the entertaining, yet poignant film can be viewed on www.GoRedForWomen.org/JustALittleHeartAttack.

Both the film and the PSA are meant to provide a powerful wake-up call to women across America to understand their risk for heart disease and empower them to put their health first.  Banks uses her comedic talent to charm the audience while, ultimately, delivering an invaluable message about the possible consequences for women who ignore their risk of heart disease.

Many viewers are among the eight million American women now living with cardiovascular disease.  We know you join us in wanting them to be successful in their pursuit of heart health.  For more information, please visit
