THE 39 HEALTHIEST SNACKS YOU CAN EAT
WINNERS OF FITNESS MAGAZINE’S
FIFTH ANNUAL HEALTHY FOOD AWARDS!

The Magazine’s Editors Tasted and Tested Their Way Through
Hundreds of Products to Bring You the Best of the Best

Every year, Americans spend about $64 billion on packaged snack foods. 42 percent of Americans eat three or more snack a day. Clearly, there’s a lot of snacking going on. But which snacks are the healthiest—and best tasting? As part of its annual Healthy Food Awards program, FITNESS magazine found dozens of sweet, salty and savory snack foods to satisfy any craving and still keep you slim.

To determine the winning foods, hundreds of companies submitted more than 1,000 healthy snacks to the magazine to be considered for the awards. Snack foods low in calories, fat, sodium and added sugars made the first cut. Then a panel of top nutritionists spent hours analyzing the nutrition facts and ingredients in each snack to help the magazine’s editors decide which ones deserved to move on to the next round for taste testing. The finalists were then sampled and voted on by dozens of staffers at FITNESS.

Pam O’Brien, Executive Editor of FITNESS magazine shares a few of the results of the 5th Annual Healthy Food Awards, which features the “best of the best snacks” from the fridge to the freezer to the pantry —everything from ice cream, chips, cookies, yogurts, and drinks—to keep your body happy and healthy!
